I came across this great email today about a piglet named Pink who was adopted by a Dachshund<\/a> (have you ever wondered about the life expectancy of a Dachshund or other dog breeds) and her litter of puppies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one reminds me of yesterday’s article about Cashew and Libby the seeing eye cat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again an animal that knows what needs to be done takes this little piglet and treats him as if he were won of her own.\"\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s the story straight from my email:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This new mom is also fostering this piglet for another mom who couldn’t take care of him. He had his eyes closed, but now they are open. He is just a little bigger than her other pups. She loves this little guy more than the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health. He is the cleanest ‘puppy’ ever because she licks him all the time.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This is “Pink” short for Pig and Tink (Tink is the mother Dachshund). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Tink is very protective over Pink.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

She keeps him close to her.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The family sleeping zzzz.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

It’s amazing to see animals of completely different species take care of one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don’t see it every day, but a couple comes to my mind including yesterday’s story about Cashew and Libby the seeing eye cat and I’ve also read about a 100-year-old tortoise acting as mom to a hippo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These stories remind me of what we’re doing with Guide Dogs and how special it is for us to help create such a wonderful bond between dogs and humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three of my dogs including Stetson and Derby who were in training to be guide dogs get along fabulously with my sister and parents’ cats, but for some reason that doesn’t seem to have the same special quality as Tink and Pink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My other dog Linus grew up with a kitten named Lulu. They acted like brothers and sisters taking turns chasing each other around the backyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
