I get emails, comments, questions on a daily basis asking me what are the best dog foods, treats, toys…? What’s most popular? And what do I use with my dogs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Dog Foods, Treats, Toys…2023 Edition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This list updated 1.2.20<\/em>23<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I started putting this list together including Amazon’s Bestsellers (I did include some Amazon bestsellers) and found out the majority of Amazon’s bestsellers in he Doggy Department are real duds!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead I’m just going to include what I use with my dogs and in my limited experience these are the best dog foods, treats, toys, and other products for my puppies and dogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without Further Adieu…LETS GET IT ON!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dog Food<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I search for dog food I always visit the Dog Food Advisor<\/a> website for more information. They do a great job of rating different dog foods and there are a ton of reviews for most of the popular dog food products. You can also subscribe to get alerts when companies announce recalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the dog foods I’m feeding my dogs which all happen to be 5 star rated on the Dog Food Advisor website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Orijen Original Dry Dog Food<\/a> – We recently started feeding Stetson and Raven Orijen Dog Food.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Wellness CORE Natural Grain Free Dry Dog Food – Original Formula<\/a> – I feed the Wellness Puppy Formula<\/a> to the littles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The Honest Kitchen Human Grade Dehydrated Organic Grain Dog Food<\/a> – We use this similar to a topper for Linus’ meals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost<\/a> – Archer’s breeder started him on Nature’s Variety.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    UPDATE:<\/strong> When feeding our dogs we plan on rotating through different high quality dog foods throughout the year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Treats & Chews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We actually had all 3 of these on our Amazon Subscription. Needless to say the doggies were pleased!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Beef Collagen Sticks<\/a> – these are a great chew alternative to bully sticks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Bully Sticks<\/a> – Our dogs love them some bully sticks. We prefer the odor-free kind, but even the odorless bully sticks are stinky.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Yak Cheese Dog Chews<\/a> – Who doesn’t like cheese? My wife! But besides that everyone likes cheese, right? Well, at least everyone in the canine world. \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Natural Balance Dog Food Roll – We cut these into tiny pieces and use them for training. The pups love the Duck and Turkey formula!<\/del> They may have changed the formula, but the last couple times we purchased the Natural Balance Dog food rolls they were crumbly and not too good for training. Instead we changed to…<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Happy Howie’s Premium Rolls<\/a> – We cut these up and they work great for training and don’t crumble like the Natural Balance rolls.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Dog Toys<\/h2>\n\n\n

      Puppies and Toys. This little plush toy did not make the list \ud83d\ude41<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

      My dogs either want durable or problem solving when it comes to new dog toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Calmeroos Puppy Toy w\/ Heartbeat and Heat Pads<\/a> – This is our new #1 for puppies and their first night home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Nylabone Dura Chew Toy<\/a> – Adelle loved these giant Nylabones. Just watch your toes!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. KONG Wobbler<\/a> – Stetson loved his KONG Wobbler even though it meant he had to work for his meals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Hide-A-Squirrel<\/a> – It’s just like de-stuffing one of their toys, but instead they’re pulling out a fuzzy little squirrel!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Puppy Stuff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Yep, there’s more than 3 essential puppy items, but these products are on the top of our list. By the way, stock up on paper towels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Puppy In Training Stain & Odor Eliminator<\/a> – We created our very own stain and odor remover for cleaning up our service dog puppy’s pee and poop accidents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Nature’s Miracle<\/a> – #2 on our list of enzymatic cleaners – it’s a little less expensive and a good second option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Bitter Apple Spray<\/a> – If your puppy likes to bite (of course he bites, he’s a puppy) then you’ll want some of this handy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Poop Bags<\/a> – Got Puppy? then…YOU Got Poop! These poop bags are eco-friendly!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          BONUS for 2022: <\/strong>Calmeroos Puppy Toy<\/a> – For several years we used the Snuggle Puppy. Recently we decided to try one of the competing products called the Calmeroos Puppy. One thing we liked better about the Calmeroos Puppy was the curved design which better simulated how a real puppy sleeps (and better for snuggling).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Beds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Guess what? All of our pet beds are elevated. It’s not that we don’t like the traditional cushions, but we do like how much easier it is to clean our elevated dog beds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Carlson Portable Dog Cot<\/a> – We put together a sponsored review for the Carlson Portable Dog Cot<\/a>…and we love it!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Coolaroo Elevated Pet Bed<\/a> – We actually used to have and enjoyed our Coolaroo doggy bed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. PVC  Elevated Pet Bed – We got one of these at America’s Family Pet Expo, but there was no brand and I’m not sure where to buy the exact same bed we have at home. There are PVC beds listed on Amazon, but I’m not sure if they’re the same quality as the one we have at home.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            Crates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Uhhh…yes, we prefer our wire over-molded plastic crates. We have a couple of the molded plastic crates, but we much prefer the collapsible metal crates. We’ve purchased, received from sponsors, or were donated these wire dog crates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            3. Carlson Pet Products Double Door Metal Dog Crate w\/ Divider<\/a> – We prefer the more expensive double door crate with divider so our puppy can grow with his crate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Harnesses<\/h2>\n\n\n

              Again we like to use harnesses based on the situation. One for nosework (#1), one for training (#2), and one for traveling (#3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Comfortflex Sport Harness<\/a> – We use these harnesses exclusively when doing K9 Nosework training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Easy Walk Dog Harness<\/a> – We like this harness for mild pullers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. Dog Travel Harness<\/a> – This is a list of CPS approved harnesses. I don’t own these harnesses, but will soon for safer travels.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Collars<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                My guide dog pals love different colors and patterns. I’m about functionality. Check out these 3 collars we like using with our pups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                1. Breakaway Dog Collar<\/a> – Our friends just had an incident where her two dogs got caught up in their collars and nearly suffocated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. Mighty Paw Martingale Collar<\/a> – We like Mighty Paw an this durable martingale<\/a> which has quick release buckle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                3. Tazlab Safe-T-Stretch Collar<\/a> – Similar to the breakaway collar this one stretches with elastic in case of emergencies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  Leashes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                  We use different leashes for different stages. Our little guys need lightweight (see #1), convertible leather leashes work best with our older dogs (see #2), and training requires long lines (see #3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  3. Mighty Paw Long Dog Leash<\/a> – Mighty Paw makes a nice long line great for dog training.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    Cameras & Monitors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                    Not All Products in this category PuppyInTraining approved<\/strong> – Buyer Beware, we’ve only used the Furbo (we love ours) from this list.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    1. Furbo Dog Camera<\/a> – We love our Furbo Dog Camera. Great for tossing treats, watching the pups, and the barking alert works great with our pack.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    2. PetChatz<\/a> – Our pals at Golden Woofs rave about their PetChatz. We don’t have one, but we could always use another puppy monitor!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    3. Petcube<\/a> – We saw this little gadget at BlogPaws. Haven’t used it, but the laser pointer looks like a ton of fun!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
