Many moons ago we adopted our first dog from our local animal shelter. We named him Linus<\/a> and the rest is history. Now, we’re life long dog lovers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That being said we want to do what we can to connect others with their future canine pals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we started searching for a rescue dog we hit up petfinder.com<\/a>. Fortunately, for us their database covered many shelters and rescues in California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when I tried to do the same and search for dogs for adoption in Nunavut, Canada I was unable to find rescues in their database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what’s dog lover to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I scoured the internet and only found a few resources for Nunavut dog shelters and rescues but hey! a few is better than none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below is our short list of rescues, shelters, and others resources for Nunavut Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Little Bit About Nunavut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before we get to that list here’s a bit of information about Nunavut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nunavut is the largest and northernmost\u00a0territory\u00a0of Canada. It was separated officially from the\u00a0Northwest Territories\u00a0on April 1, 1999, via the\u00a0Nunavut Act and the\u00a0Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act, which provided this territory to the\u00a0Inuit\u00a0for independent government. The boundaries had been drawn in 1993.<\/p>\nWikipedia<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Nunavut being the northernmost province in Canada and having a small population of just over 40,000 probably explains why we were unable to find many shelters or rescues in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adopting is a great way of bringing home a dog in need of a loving home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider checking with the organizations in your area on a weekly basis if you’re looking for a specific breed before you decide to go out and buy a puppy from a breeder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sorry guys, I was only able to locate the above four rescues in the Nunavut area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
