{"id":5376,"date":"2012-05-18T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-05-18T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/?p=5376"},"modified":"2023-10-23T14:59:02","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T21:59:02","slug":"kong-wobbler-dog-toy-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/kong-wobbler-dog-toy-review\/","title":{"rendered":"KONG Wobbler Dog Toy Review"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In our never-ending search for the perfect <strong>slow feeder dog bowl<\/strong> we came across an interesting new dog toy that we think might be the perfect feeding device for <a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/my-dog-eats-so-fast-he-vomits\/\">Stetson &#8211; our fast-eating dog<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTER&#8230;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B003ALMW0M\/?tag=minlikwat-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">KONG Wobbler Dog Toy<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yep!&nbsp;It&#8217;s not a dog bowl!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time Stetson is going to test a new treat-dispensing device.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Review.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Review.jpg\" alt=\"KONG Wobbler Review\" class=\"wp-image-5482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Review.jpg 640w, https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Review-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Apache Modeling The KONG Wobbler<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>At first, we didn&#8217;t think it would be a very good dog bowl replacement until we came across the large version of this giant KONG!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So without further adieu let&#8217;s get down to the details on this bad boy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KONG Wobbler Dog Toy Review<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PetSmart.com Product Description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wobbler is a KONG-shaped food dispensing toy and feeder that sits upright until pushed with a dog&#8217;s paw or nose, then dispenses treats as it wobbles, spins and rolls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wobbler unscrews for quick filling and easy clean-up and is top-shelf dishwasher safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is great for playtime, providing challenge and physical activity the whole family will enjoy watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also presents an excellent alternative to the traditional food bowl, extending the joy of feeding time and preventing unhealthy gulping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wobbler is made of a durable, FDA food-approved, high-strength polymer and can accommodate up to two cups of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Twist off top to open<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill Wobbler dish with dry dog food or favorite small treats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Twist on top. Encourage dog to rock Wobbler to dispense reward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For dogs 25 pounds and up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Made in the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are a few more things I got off of the &#8220;Official&#8221; KONG Wobbler packaging:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dispense food and treats for hours of fun &#8211; <em>&#8220;Uhhh&#8230;I hope it doesn&#8217;t take hours for Stetson to finish a whole meal of food!&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>entertaining wobble action<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervised use only<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspect toy frequently &#8211; Remove toy if damaged<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Twist off easy fill dispenser<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevents rapid eating &#8211; <em>&#8220;This is the number 1 reason why we&#8217;re reviewing this doggy toy!&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It even came with some simple directions on how to use it on the packaging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Twist off top to open<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill Wobbler dish with dry dog food, small KONG Stuff &#8216;N Snacks, or favorite small treats.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For treat dispensing fun, add a handful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For mealtime feeding, feed normal amount, up to 1 cup per filling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Twist top on tightly. Encourage dog to rock Wobbler to dispense reward.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Top Shelf Dishwasher safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Few Pics Of The KONG Wobbler<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I always like giving my initial thoughts on all our dog toys and products before I let any of the pups start their own interactive review prodding, playing, and sometimes destroying these toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, this is not you&#8217;re regular-sized rubber <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0002AR164\/?tag=minlikwat-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">classic KONG<\/a> as you can see below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the left is your standard-sized KONG (as you can see it&#8217;s well used by my pups) and on the right is the ginormous (this is the Large) KONG Wobbler!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This thing was a lot larger than I expected and according to the PetSmart.com&nbsp;description, it can hold up to 2 cups of food!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s awesome because Stetson&#8217;s normal feedings are 1 1\/2 cups of food!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-KONG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-KONG.jpg\" alt=\"KONG Wobbler vs KONG\" class=\"wp-image-5483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-KONG.jpg 640w, https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-KONG-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The KONG Wobbler vs. The Regular KONG<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot of the KONG Wobbler next to our recently reviewed Martha Stewart Pets Slow Feeder Dog Bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see the KONG Wobbler is similar in size to the <a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/martha-stewart-pets-slow-feeder-dog-bowl-review-2\/\">Martha Stewart bowl<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was hoping to include a few pictures next to familiar objects to give you an idea of the size of the Wobbler.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Bowl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Bowl.jpg\" alt=\"KONG Wobbler vs Dog Bowl\" class=\"wp-image-5484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Bowl.jpg 640w, https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Bowl-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">KONG Wobbler vs Martha Stewart Slow Feeder Bowl<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Tops off! Here&#8217;s our final picture of the Wobbler with its top off. It&#8217;s very easy to unscrew and looks like it will be very easy to load up with Stetson&#8217;s kibble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the lid portion of the Wobbler almost looks like a small dog bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Open.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Open.jpg\" alt=\"KONG Wobbler Tops Off!\" class=\"wp-image-5485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Open.jpg 640w, https:\/\/puppyintraining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/KONG-Wobbler-Open-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">KONG Wobbler Tops Off!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Initial Thoughts On The KONG Wobbler<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When I first saw the KONG Wobbler I thought it was just a giant hollow KONG with a nice treat dispensing hole, but as soon as I had one in my hands I knew it was a completely different kind of dog toy, a treat dispenser, feeding device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First of all, it&#8217;s not made out of the same material as your standard Classic KONG.&nbsp; The red KONG toys I&#8217;ve had in the past are made of a soft, durable, rubber that usually lasts a long time even with heavy chewing dogs (they also have more durable versions, but the most common is the red classic KONG).&nbsp; The Wobbler is made of hard plastic and according to the PetSmart.com&nbsp;description: &#8220;The Wobbler is made of a durable, FDA food-approved, high strength polymer&#8221; If you haven&#8217;t felt one of these then just think hard plastic as opposed to the normal soft rubber KONG.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The base of the KONG Wobbler is weighted.&nbsp; If you shake the bottom it sounds like there is sand on the inside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I played around with it for a little bit and after screwing it back together it always stands upright no matter which direction you push it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There&#8217;s one circle hole the dispense treats, but there are a couple of notches that I believe are meant as cutaways.&nbsp; However, cutting away at those holes would definitely require some work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After checking over the Wobbler up and down, back and forth, left and right I have a feeling it is going to take Stetson a while to eat 1 1\/2 cups of food out of this treat dispenser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took Stetson about 1 minute to eat 1 1\/2 cups out of his normal dog bowl and 2 minutes to eat out of the Martha Stewart Pets Slow Feeder Dog Bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My prediction is that it will take well over 5 minutes for Stetson to get every last morsel out of the KONG Wobbler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, the true test and review will come from Stetson my black Labrador Retriever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will get his chance to poke, prod, and play with the new KONG Wobbler over the next few days and we&#8217;ll put together a nice video review next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m excited to see how well this new product works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far it looks like a great dog product because it&#8217;s not only a dog toy, but also a possible dog bowl\/feeder, and it&#8217;s also interactive and will make Stetson think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The KONG Wobbler Giveaway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s simple to enter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to hear your thoughts about the KONG Wobbler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just leave us a comment in the comment section below and tell us 2 things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You&#8217;ve seen the pictures and my initial thoughts.
